Gemstones, Minerals & Rocks of Wyoming: A guide for Prospectors and Rock Hounds. Wyoming was once known as the Jade State, but from to , one geologist (Professor Hausel, also known as the GemHunter) changed this designation by finding more than a hundred gemstone, gold, diamond and mineral occurrences in the Cowboy State such that the state is now better known as the Gemstone . Some of the great gold mines (and diamond mines for that matter) are found in Western Australia, the Super Pit at Kalgoorlie is located withiin the Yilgarn Craton. The giant open pit gold mine is so large that it can be seen from space and it produces , ounces of gold each year (more than twice the amount of gold mined in Wyoming's entire history). The Gemhunter talks to crowd about geology, history and gold deposits at the South Pass greenstone belt. In , Hausel began to research and map this greenstone belt and ended up mapping to square miles of complex Archean geology in Wyoming's primary gold districts. This project resulted in completion of eight geological. This clickable map has information about gems, minerals, and fossils in the United States. There are many locations throughout the country that have very valuable sources of minerals such as opals, turquoise, jade, tourmaline, amethyst, and beryl. Even precious gems like diamonds, emeralds, and aquamarine can be found in the U.S. By clicking on each state, you will find detailed information.

Hausel, W.D., , Mining history and geology of some of Wyoming’s metal and gemstone districts and deposits: Geological Survey of Wyoming [Wyoming State Geological Survey] Repr p. 39– (Reprinted , Wyoming Geological Association.). Some of these were cut into gemstones. However, in the late s very few people were faceting gemstones in the United States, so a demand for rough gem sapphire had not been established. A small market for industrial sapphire did exist in the late s. Some was used to produce abrasive granules. Little was known about gold in Wyoming, thus I set out to map, evaluate & find more. I discovered gold everywhere I looked. I was amazed at how much had been overlooked. I published compendiums that are used by prospectors & geologists & mapped several mining districts that were previously unmapped or only partially mapped. Wyoming has , records of mining claims on public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management and 3, records of mines listed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). 2 Such mines have some degree of development such as surface trenching, adits, shafts, drill holes, Top Mining Districts in Wyoming.   This book tells you in layman's terms about gold deposits in the Western US with emphasis on Wyoming. Written by two geologists - one found > gold deposits, mapped >dozen gold districts and even found a whole new district with similarities to the world-class gold camps of Red Lake, Canada and Cripple Creek, Colorado combined (Rattlesnake. Geology of Nepal is very complex because of continues geodynamic process in the Himalayan region and that resulted many thrusting, faulting, folding, magmatic activities and metamorphic effects. Nepal Himalaya can be divided into five distinct morpho-geotectonic zones from south to north (Fig.1). From mineral resources point of view, the southernmost Terai Plain is potential for gravel, sand.

Ruby and Sapphire are the same mineral, but due to different trace metals, they have different color. These gems are found in geological environments with considerable aluminum. Using these geological facts, the author discovered a half-dozen ruby and sapphire deposits and found traces of several other deposits.
